This necklace is part of my range of mala meditation jewellery. This one is made with a purple and blue colour scheme taking inspiration from the iridescent titanium druzy raw crystal points I love. This necklace has a wire wrapped shard in the pendant attached to a silver coloured meditation/lotus charm and rainbow purple glass beads with spectacular iridescent finished. The colours are further represented in amethyst chip gemstones, mother of pearl disc beads, lapis lazuli tumbled chips and banded agate beads. This is a 108 bead configuration mala necklace.

    About mala necklaces:
Similar to praying with rosary beads, the mala beads are an ancient tool first used for meditation in Indian 3,000 years ago.
Meditation has many benefits including instilling calm by visualisation and focused breath and mala beads are used as a tactile tool to help count breath. ‘Japa meditation’ is a great way to introduce repetitive sounds or mantra, helping establish positive thought patterns and affirmations.
In Sanskrit, ‘Mala’ is means ‘meditation garland’. Mala necklaces can therefore be used in decoration or jewellery, as well as for meditation and yoga.

    Specifics of this necklace:
    Length: 76cm
    Length of pendant/tassel section: 8cm

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Custom and personalised orders

I offer many custom options, particularly in my ceramic pendant range. All the information is included in the listing details, but feel free to contact me with additional info or questions. I will always speak with you first, before making a custom order, to clarify your design and before sending to check you are happy with the outcome. I ask 10 days from confirmation of order in which to make the piece. Shipping times are additional to this 10 days.

I'm always happy to work with you to create something special and unique.

    Care instructions

A lot of the components are natural materials so they can be fragile or prone to attack by water or rough handling. To protect your jewellery, please handle it carefully and remove it before bathing/showering, swimming and snoozing. It is also a good idea to avoid getting perfume, make-up or creams on jewellery.

    Gift wrapping and packaging

I carefully pack all items in a padded envelope (preferably recycled envelopes where possible).

I have a 'gift wrap' option and am happy to include gift messages. See my shop photos for examples of packaging featuring lino printed packaging, designed and hand printed by me!

    What metal do you use?

    Ear wires:
These are most often silver plated or aluminium. I also use sterling silver, stainless steel (hypo-allergenic) and the listing info has specific information for each item. I am happy to alter ear wire type if possible, just ask. This also includes the clip-on style.

Wire & findings (jump rings, connectors etc.):
Most of the wire I use is either copper, aluminium or iron and plated with copper, silver or black colour plating. The thickness I most often use is 0.4mm.

For more specific information about the components in a particular item, please ask.

What gemstones do you use & can you make items in specific birthstones?

    Many and yes!

I love to use semi-precious gemstones like agate, quartz, lapis lazuli (and many many more). I find the reputed mystical and healing properties of these stones interesting (and know many people do) so will include a few lines about these for the appropriate items.

I think there's something special about using organic materials and wearing treasures from nature against one’s skin. I find it a joy to work with them and hope this positive energy will transfer to their new owners.

See my 'birthstone jewellery' and 'healing jewellery' section in the shop to find these items.

    What are the clay/ceramic components?

    Clay components
These are made using either stoneware fired and glazed clay (hardy but can be fragile if dropped) or air-dry clay. I really like working with the latter as there is limitless potential to create unique interesting components and finishes without needing to kiln fire. However it is a bit of a unknown quantity in that I’ve only recently started working with it and have no personal experience of how it behaves over time. The manufacturer information states this is very durable, particularly when varnished and is PVC free, containing only vegetable binders. I varnish these with a double coating but would still recommend taking special care with these components, particularly avoiding rough handling, water or intense heat/cold.

What do you mean when you say 'recycled' materials?

I use beads in a variety of sizes, colours, finishes and origins. I’ll be as specific as possible in the listings about materials. I do enjoy using recycled materials as much as possible mainly due the surprise of coming across unusual items of mysterious origins (!) and I’ll pick them up at places like charity shops, car boot sales etc. or even re-purpose my old jewellery. I will always replace ear wires and fastenings though for hygiene reasons.
